In 2010, as Give a SmileÔ neared the magic number of 1000 patient allocations, a media campaign – Target 1000 - was created. Target 1000’s aim was to give Give a SmileÔ wider exposure and to inform the public about the very positive message of pro bono treatment given by ASO orthodontists to those in need.
This project proceeded with full ASO Council support and with some financial backing from Johnson & Johnson Pacific Pty Ltd. The GAS Executive worked closely with an excellent PR firm, Thrive PR to build the campaign. Target 1000 ran for 3-4 months in the second half of 2010 and proved to be an enormous success with hits occurring across Australia in the print media and on radio.
The Give a SmileÔ message was broadcast in several capital cities and to many regional areas. We were delighted with its success. The GAS Executive thanks Thrive PR, Johnson & Johnson as well as the numerous GAS orthodontists who supplied information and images of their GAS patients to support Target 1000.
