Give a Smile takes part in the PUB 2 PUB in Sydney
Thanks to Dr Richard Hammond who fielded a team for the Pub 2 Pub Charity Fun Run and Walk, an event organised by the Rotary Club of Brookvale to raise funds for local and other needy charities.
The annual event is a 14.5km run/walk, finishing at Newport SLSC (it was the Newport Arms in previous years) and this year it also featured a new 3km event starting from the Mona Vale SLSC.
Roger, his daughter and two longest serving (and oldest) staff members braved the rain and slogged out the Pub 2 Pub in full Give a Smile regalia. The more mature staff members walked and talked/ ran and talked/talked and talked all the way arriving in fine spirit and looking like they could do it again.
Roger and his daughter had a great time at the beginning but came to the realisation that they are more water based than land based animals especially when it comes to running the last few kilometres. Nevertheless, apparently it was nothing a nice gozleme and a Sunday drink at beautiful Newport beach couldn’t fix.
All enjoyed a wonderful day and were certainly noticed in the brand new bright red GAS hats and shirts promoting the fantastic initiative of our blessed profession. The race started with an 800m sand start from the Dee Why Surf Club and winds its way via the back streets along the beaches providing the participants with some spectacular scenery along the way. Thanks again to the team who helped to highlight the work of Give a Smile through their participation.
